From Free Encyclopedia of Thelema
In the terminology of Bill Siebert and the Chthonic Auranian Templars of Thelema, a sovereign is someone who is a leader rather than a follower and yet has no desire to have or acquire followers. The word also partakes of elements of the meanings listed below:
- The adjective sovereign is used to refer to a state of sovereignty.
- Sovereign is another term for monarch.
- Sovereign can apply to the head of a state, whether that head be one person (monarch) or a group (aristocracy or democracy). It is used in this sense in Leviathan by Thomas Hobbes.
- A Sovereign individual is someone who has supreme rank, power or authority over their own choices in life. Sovereign individuals are typically advocates of peace, anarchy and tax resistance.
